The focus of this initiative is to provide students with a platform to get to know different organizations and companies which have a strong public, social entrepreneurship or international component to provide students with an opportunity to get in touch with participating organizations that might facilitate subsequent career prospects in those sectors.
The Humanistic Management Center was asked to participate with a workshop entitled The Start-Up Phase of a Social Enterprise. In this workshop Ernst von Kimakowitz introduced the Humanistic Management Center and the current status of our organization. The work shop was kicked off by an overview of our activities centered on the three work streams of knowledge creation, knowledge dissemination and knowledge application. Subsequently the participants discussed opportunities and appropriate means to further our engagement with private sector organizations that are following principles of humanistic management or that aspire to enhance their societal impact. Given the strong commitment of the participants to work towards impact generating private sector activities, we received valuable input to further develop our knowledge dissemination and knowledge application strategies. In addition we were impressed by the ambition demonstrated by the participants to question the economistic paradigm in higher education institutions and to move toward a humanistic business paradigm.
