For 2011 this annual event had the topic of "The Latin American Decade: Growth without Limits?” and Ernst von Kimakowitz of the Humanistic Management Center was invited to design and moderate the closing panel discussion on this exciting topic that shows many relevant overlaps with the Center's work on the impact of private sector actors on development.
The panelists were her Excellency Claudia Quintero, Ambassador of Colombia to Switzerland, Edgar Uribe Corporate Environment Officer at Kuehne + Nagel, Jean-Max Baumer, Professor Emeritus at the University of St Gallen and Marc Hüfti, Professor at the IHEID in Geneva. In this very well visited event agreement on the panel was reached on the fundamental insight, that far too often we view economic growth as the end of development efforts rather than viewing it as a means to achieve further reaching developmental goals. On this basis a lively discussion soon emerged with very active participation of the audience once the floor was opened to questions.
